Your Meridies.org Subdomain
|
|
|
Starting in the late Summer and Fall
of 2007, the Kingdom Web Minister's office will be issuing limited
subdomains on the kingdom server. Currently,
these will be limited to Kingdom Officer pages and Kingdom level
groups (such as R.U.M., the Meridian Army,Pages School, etc.). Groups
having a Meridies.org subdomain will also have a contract with
the Kingdom Web Minister's Office regarding the updates on their
subdomains. In
short, we do not want subdomains issued, a site uploaded then left
un-updated for years.
As there will be more people coming on board to handle sub-sites for various
offices that will have access to the Kingdom Website, we would prefer the term
'Web-Deputy' be used in regards to those who admin websites for various offices. This
should prevent confusion from the role they hold with the role played by actual
deputies for the Kingdom Webminister's office. Web-deputies will
have access to a section of the Kingdom webserver to upload and maintain that
office's websites, but will have no further access to the Kingdom Website, nor
be associated with what's going on with other business in the Webminister's office.
Each group/office that is issued a subdomain will need to provide it's own Web-deputy
to handle the design, uploading, transfer and updates to thier site. These
Web-deputies will
need to have basic web skills* and have a signed Web-deputy contract on file
with the Kingdom Web Minister's Office. Once a Web-deputy has signed the contract,
the technical info such as login IDs and passwords will be given to them.
*Web deputies will need to have previous experience with HTML and
web page design; graphics experience, CSS, PHP and Javascript are
a plus. Web
deputies will also need to have their own design/HTML editor software,
as well as an FTP program and experience with FTPing -- this
is the only way to access your subdomain -- no web interface for
editing or uploading will be provided.
These subdomains will have certain perks and limitations,
as noted below.

Your personal subdomain technical information will
be given to your web-deputy, once they are contracted. However,
here are some generalities:
Your FTP Server: ftp.meridies.org
Your URL: www.subdomain.meridies.org (such as www.web.meridies.org
--or-- www.army.meridies.org)
If you have uploaded your index file
and cannot see it in your browser,
please make sure that your files are uploaded into your sub-domain's
root folder. This
is the "public_html" folder that you will see when you connect with
the sub-domain via your FTP client.
